What is Tax Effective Giving?

If you are a taxpayer* and have given €250 or more to ActionAid Ireland in the course of a calendar year, your donation(s) can be worth 45% more at no extra cost to you. This is of no additional cost to you, but it can make a huge difference to the communities we support.

The CHY3 tax form is valid for five years and doesn’t commit you to make any future donations. It simply allows ActionAid Ireland to claim tax back for any year which you gave €250 or more – without having to send you a form each year.

And we can claim tax back for the past four years – so, if you donated four years ago, this year is our last chance to claim the tax on it.

* Resident in Ireland, paying income tax (PAYE or self-assessed) or capital acquisitions/gains tax

 

What do I need to do?

It only takes a few minutes to complete the form – it couldn’t be easier.

Simply, fill out the formhereadding your PPS number and digital signature and we will take care of the rest.

 

How Tax Effective Giving helps your donation grow

If you have donated €250 in one calendar year, your donation could be worth an extra €112.33 in vital funds! For instance:

• A donation of €1000 could grow to €1449.29
• A donation of €500 could grow to €724.64
• A donation of €1000 could grow to €1449.29

 

Am I eligible?

If you were either a self-assessed taxpayer or paid tax on your annual income in the year that your donation of over €250 was paid, then you can go ahead and fill out the tax form.

 

Your support can go further!

If all our supporters returned their CHY3 forms,this would result in over €550,000 in additional funds to ActionAid Ireland. This is an incredible amount that could go a long way in further supporting the women and communities we work with.

Your kindness is already directly helping women, girls and communities meet their basic needs. You help them create safe spaces, claim their human rights, and access the tools, programmes and resources they have themselves identified so their families and communities can live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives. You have also ensured that families facing humanitarian crises were provided with essential support, such as food, shelter and medical care.
